The spanish guitarist Margarita Escarpa studied in the "Real Conservatorio Superior de Música" in Madrid where she was awarded the highest prize, the "premio Extraordinario Fin de Carrera". She was taught by the most important music teachers and she was exposed to the influence of the best guitar players of the time. She also holds a degree in mathematics from the Universidad Autonoma de Madrid. Margarita has won 2 national and 8 international prices, including the International Competition in Esztergom (Hungary 1991), the International Competition "Andrés Segovia" in Palma de Mallorca in 1993, or the "Solo Guitar Competition" organised by the Guitar Foundation of America in Quebec in 1994.
These important prizes together with her excellent qualities give her the opportunity of taking part in the most important festivals in Europe, North America, Asia and Canada, where she has received both public and critical acclaim.
In addition to her touring and recording, Margarita also teaches regularly at the Conservatorio Profesional de Mùsica de Vigo (Spain).
She has recorded several CDs with Opera Tres, RNE, Naxos, and GHA records.

Margarita plays with a George Lowden´s guitar (North Ireland) and with a Matthias Dammann's guitar (Germany).
